This is a great drill for the price! I have been using it for the random tasks around the house (putting up blinds, shelves, etc) and it is just perfect for that! The two batteries and charger are a plus as well. I’d definitely recommend for anyone with light to medium handiwork around the house.
The brushless motor works great, the tool works just like the old model, no issues at all and can't tell any power or battery life difference
One of the best little drivers/screw-guns I have used. Holds a charge for a long time, is lightweight, and is very ergonomic. I have a few of them at this point.
This is a great compact drill\driver.
Durable and trustworthy.
This is my second Bosch, I have the older 10.8V one and love it as well although this one has an even short head to allow it to get into even tighter area.
My choice was between this and thexa0 MILWAUKEE M12 FUEL 2SPD Screwd . I was looking for a small and light screw driver to complement my bigger Milwaukee Fuel Hammer drill / Impact driver for around the house tasks as well as when I need to do extensive overhead work. While the Milwaukee has more power, the Bosch PS22 fits my needs better being smaller and lighter and still being a serious tool. Pulling the trigger feels very satisfying like the sort of tool an astronaut would use in space. It's quiet, responsive, and powerful. Hard to believe so much tool fits in such a small space. With long lasting lithium ion batteries and a brushless motor, this tool should last a very long time. Pros Compact Powerful Feels robust Battery state of charge indicator Quiet Lithium Ion batteries Brushless motor Cons Hand grip might feel bulky in small hands Not as powerful as the Milwaukee
This is a superb tool. I use it all the time anytime I need an electric screwdriver. This is the exact tool that our professional contractor used when he installed our kitchen cabinets. He had 3 batteries and would switch from one to the other to the other, using the driver constantly, all day long. When I asked why he used this instead of the more functional (but larger) Bosch drill (which also took screwdriver bits) he said that the much lighter weight of this tool (with its much shortened "snout") was invaluable in his work, which required him to lift cabinets and hang them (by himself), and drive many, many screws. He said even carrying something as light as this all day long takes a toll, so the smaller the better. (Even a 1/2 pound difference was important). And finally, the high-end power of this small-ish tool (with the power of the 12 volt batteries) meant that he could work for some time without needing to recharge, and he could use it in dark crevices (with the auto-LED light) and didn't need a lot of room to work with it. The other thing he used it for was to drive dry-wall screws, and if you've ever done this, you know how repetitive this can get. (The lighter and smaller the tool the better! But, you don't want to sacrifice power, which means that you can never really use the cheap electric screwdrivers to do the job.) PROS: +++ COMES WITH TWO BATTERIES. If you want to buy an extra battery you will shell out $50. Having two means you can run out and always have a backup. +++ LED LIGHT ILLUMINATES THE WORK ZONE. When you squeeze the trigger an LED light comes on and illuminates whatever you are screwing in. This may seem like a minor benefit but it becomes major when you are working in dimly lit confined spaces like under the sink or when hanging cabinets. Now you won't need to use your other hand to hold a flashlight while working. ++ COMES WITH NICE CASE. It is a soft case with a handle, and it stores everything that comes with it. ++ VERY QUICK CHARGING. It never seems to take more than an hour to charge, and I have never had a job that required me to use more than the battery in the tool (and an extra one if the first wasn't fully charged. + HANDLE IS GRIPPY. Made with a combination of hard plastic and soft rubber the handle feels like it won't slip. + LOW BATTERY INDICATOR. There is a 3 light battery indicator which lets you know how much charge is remaining. Very handy. CONS: -PRICEY. This isn't cheap, but you are buying PROFESSIONAL quality. Also, keep in mind you get TWO batteries. This is a big deal as they are expensive on their own. Highly recommended for those you want a high end electric screwdriver. If you want a DRILL, however, I recommend you look at the Bosch drill, with a chuck that will hold drill bits. (Yes, you can buy drill bits with hex bit ends that will be held by this driver, but those are a lot more expensive than traditional drill bits, and they will work in a pinch, but the true purpose of this tool is not for DRILLING, but for DRIVING.)
This appears to be the exact same tool as the PS32 except for the (lack of) chuck. That makes this tool a little shorter and similarly useful. As a stand-alone tool, I prefer the PS32 because I generally don't like drilling with quick change drill bits, as they are more expensive and less common. That makes this tool most useful for driving, but if you're looking for a tool just for driving, then I recommend the PS40/41/(42 to be released?) impact driver, which brings more power to the table (the only downside to the impact driver is that you should not drill with it). My M.O. is to double-fist it with the drill/impact diver; the two of them can handle almost anything except heavy masonry work, in which case I break out the corded Bosch hammer drill. That makes this tool's perfect niche as the extra driver hidden away on each floor close at reach for small tasks that come up. It can handle large tasks just like the PS32, but if the task is large, you may have to run to the tool storage area for some other tools anyway. The new 2 amp-hour batteries bring>50% more life to the tool between charging (he 1.3amp-hour batteries always seemed adequate; in the above scenario, I'd use my PS20 on occasion, and charge just once a year or so) while only being 1-2mm longer. The LED light now stays on for a few seconds after drilling, the battery gauge is new compared to the PS20, and the included, optional belt clip and bit holders are much appreciated new features. This tool has improved in every way over the PS20, and I love it. I'd recommend it to anyone with the caveat that in many cases you may prefer other drilling/driving tools in the Bosch 12v product line.
This guy is as light as a feather. I barely notice it hooked on my pocket of inside of my tool bag It packs a little punch(an absolutely great punch for it's size) and will handle most everyday chores whether on the jobsite or at home
This is a great deal on a great tool. This is the third Bosch tool purchased by me. Will continue to buy this brand.
I used this when replacing the VVT actuator on our Corolla. The amount of time this thing saved me is amazing! Think about it - there's a dozen 10mm bolts (plus one in the center) holding the cam cover down, not to mention all the other ones holding sensor brackets and other whatnot. It would easily take me 30-45 seconds to take each out using a 1/4" ratchet. This thing gets it done in under 4 seconds. Why didn't I buy this sooner? The battery seems to last forever. They both came partially charged, and I used one of them for a few days at work and it didn't budge. I used a fully charged one when I started this car project and it still reads as full. Hopefully the batteries last a long time. So far, I'm quite satisfied.
Excellent product. Well worth it. 0 regrets
This is my go-to driver in my shop and around the house.
Very disappointed with the LED light, tool os light weight but lack impacting.
Fantastic driver as with most Bosch tools, I have it paired with its bigger brother the 18V DDS181-02. Significant upgrade from the PS20 I previously had. It is much smaller, I call it mr stubby and it can reach into tight spaces. Has 2x the battery and power and uses the same 12V max lithium battery as the PS20. I was very happy to spend money on the tool only. Also has a battery gauge, brighter light (with 5 second on time) and the very handy bit holder. Bosch really know how to make good feeling and looking tools. Extremely well thought out, ergonomic and light in the hand at 1.6lbs. The PS22 has enough power for 95% of my drill/driving needs, I barely even break out the 18V nowadays. Highly recommended, another quality tool from Bosch.
I gave a 4 star because when using the drill bit it had some wobbling but honestly it doesn't affect my work. Rather than that the drill are very light and easy to use. I love the fact that it's very compact and easy to store in my tool bag. I'm an REFRIGERATION tech so it does help me a lot on my job with opening screw and using it for cleaning copper pipe.
Good
When I picked it up for the first time I thought it was heavy. I was using a Snap-On screw gun that only had Ni Cad batteries, I had a choice buy after market batteries or a new tool. This tool filled my desire for the latest tech and battery life. After using this tool for a day .t feels just fine in my hand the weight is not an issue.
I got this along with the impact one. Both are excellent. Compact yet powerful. I keep them in my tool bag now instead of the Dewalts, except when I need the hammer drill. Highly recommended. It is worth the price.
I literally just got this and opened up the package. It comes in a nice carrying/storage bag. I wanted something small and light, this fits the bill. However, though I had always thought I had large hands, I realize being a 5'3" woman maybe I don't have large hands after all. The handle has quite a bit of girth. If this was half an inch skinnier I think it would be more comfortable for me. But, if you have larger hands or apparently even regular sized hands you'll probably love this tool. It is much better than a Ryobi tool that I have, that seems to weight 200 pounds, but the grip is better. I feel like goldilocks. Anyhow, I need to use this driver to actually do an accurate review, but this was just a review on initial impressions. I really like that it has a variable speed trigger. I also didn't know the difference between this and the 3/8 one, except that I have some bits that say 1/4, and that's what I'll be using this driver for. More to update if this driver stinks, but I have the feeling it will be perfect for the application I need.
Great for it's purpose, don't try to use it as an impact driver. This little thing has the power and will fit where almost anything else that's powered won't. Battery life is a huge plus I still haven't had to change it out..... I use it minimally once a week and heavily every the weeks all day. Great product, I expect a long service life from this Bosch PS22
Excellent quality, works well and feels good in your hand.
I have been buying 12v drills since they came out years ago. I decided to try this Bosch Stubby drill and WOW. You can't get this in stores so don't waste your time trying. I love the power and speed of this thing as well as the battery meter and the adjustable clutch which will suddenly turn into an Impact drill. It does have 2- 2.0 amp batteries which last forever and a fast charger. The on-board bit holder/belt clip is genius which are both removable. Not quite made for big drill bit hole drilling but you probably aren't going to do that anyway. Great for Hvac techs or service techs trying to stay lightweight and mobile. Hands down the lightest most powerful compact stubby drill in the world and its Brushless.
Unfornately, my old PS20 only lasted 3 years of periodic home use. The motor started smoking with my last project and that was it! I see the price has gone up but so has the features. I love the adjustable torque and the power meter. The battery capacity is also higher I see. Love the Bosch for it's smaller size than most--yet it packs power! Hopefully being brushless with mean it is more reliable. Otherwise I will not be buying Bosch any more--my Hitachi full size driver has been nothing but rock solid.
Fantastic tool and a great addition to the set of 12 volt max tools I already own.
mailed it back wanted more options for other tools but great weight and would be great for just around the house
Por su utilidad
I bought this to use to assemble a 3D printer - it turns out I didn't use it because I didn't have metric bits - but since then I've found we use it all the time all over the house. Its stubby design makes it useful in screwing/unscrewing screws inside cramped kitchen cabinets, and with hex-end drill bits we can drill pilot holes and screw in the screws using the same driver. I bought two accessories: A metric driver set, for working on my 3D printer (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FA4RI9W), and a set of hex-end drill bits so I can drill pilot holes for screws (I bought that from Lowes).
This is my absolute favorite drill/driver. it's so small and compact that I grab this first. I like it more then the PS32 (which has a standard chuck) since it is way smaller. I usually use this for driving screws as the clutch is very good and gives consistent results. I have also purchased hex drill bits and it is so much faster to switch out then using a standard keyless chuck. Forget the PS32 and get the PS22 instead...
I use this driver everyday for about 3 years now. It's been excellent. I drove 3" screws into deck boards(which is not really meant to) i install security cameras all day long attaching electrical boxes to different wall materials, you name it. New 2 amphr batteries are the beasts, one lasts all day with about half to spare. I'm on the ladders often and have this thing dropped from 8-15 feet to the ground just to find nothing really happened! I'm impressed to say the least it's being 12 v tool!
I work in the IT field. Gets into spaces most drivers can only dream about. Smooth torque from the motor for it's size. Cabinet doors, server racks, adjusting desk chairs etc..
Quality as you would expect from Bosch. I bought it for the adjustable clutch feature.. great for driving pocket screws, hard to softwood.
Durable, compact, holds charge and perfect to have at home!
Exactamente lo que pedí.
Perfect size and power. Faster and more torque than an electric screwdriver (which I use a lot), but a lot lighter and easier to use than a full size impact driver. Battery fits in handle perfectly, which is a GREAT design spec. Charge lasts for a LONG time with moderate/regular use. I really think this is one of the best hand tools on the market!
Very impressive for such a small tool. A good combination of strength and endurance. Enough power to turn your wrist off if you're not careful, and one battery lasts through an entire remod job. The only downside: the LED is weak and poorly placed.
Best Drill ever, powerful, light and compact
Another great tool from Bosch. This one is particular good. Very easy to modulate the speed, quiet and powerful.
Good product!!
I used to own a PS21, but it recently was stolen from me. I purchased this to replace it and i like it a lot more, First off it has a fuel gauge which i was always swapping the battery to my impact to check level, second i feel it is lighter, and third i think the overall head might have gotten a bit smaller (which is great in confined spaces). The light has also been improved and stays on for a few seconds after trigger is released which is a nice convenient feature sometimes. I would definitely recommend.
I remember a few years back when these came in a set, the drill and driver. Sadly, Bosch no longer offers this option as everyone seems to be on this useless "impact" craze. The torque settings on this particular driver are far superior to any impact driver- especially when it comes to consistently and precisely sinking fasteners into wood projects or sheet metal. The maximum torque this unit can apply on gearbox setting 1 with the torque ring locked in the drill position is outstanding for a compact unit. Has no issues putting 4" t30 head deck screws in. I would consider Battery life above average. I firmly believe that there is no around-the-house task this compact unit can't accomplish as good as or better than a full size unit.
Light, clip are great additions to this model. Use it everyday for work.
Great Product. Fit my needs perfectly
I own this driver's predecessor already, the PS21, and have recommended it to everyone I know that would care (and plenty of people who probably don't). In any case, the PS21 is a brilliant, brilliant driver. I've used it for more things than I can recall around the house, from setting up my movie room, to putting up shelves, to mounting a projector. It's never let me down. The PS22, thankfully is more of the same, and even better in some ways. The most obvious change is the brushless motor. I've immediately noticed that the PS22 runs quite a bit cooler to the touch after extensive use. Battery life is supposed to be improved over the PS21 because of this, but the battery lasted so well on the PS21 that I haven't noticed any obvious improvements yet there (I'll take Bosch's word for it). I really like that the Bosch drivers come with Li-Ion batteries. As opposed to NiMH batteries, I can go to grab my Bosch after many, many months sitting in its case, and the battery still has plenty of charge as it hasn't drained like an NiMH does. Overall, I really like the PS22. If you can find a PS21 for significantly cheaper and you're on a tight budget, - start there. Otherwise, the PS22 is certainly a better model due to its brushless motor, shorter head length (than the PS21, - for getting into tighter spaces), and the lighter weight: PS22 is 1.6lbs, and the PS21 is 1.8lbs. An easy, easy recommendation: 5 stars out of 5.
Great driver, light weight, plenty of power. Loved the original pocket driver, would not have had to replace it if i had not lost it. Very durable units.
I just purchased this unit and so far it stands high above the standard version. Two nice things about this driver are the charge indicator LED's and the light timer. If I see one light on the charge indicator I know it's time to grab the other battery and I can plan a stopping point in my work. I can squeeze the trigger momentarily and the light will stay on for a few seconds giving me enough time to navigate working in a dark or confined area. The brushless motor is powerful, quiet and doesn't produce sparks like a standard motor which is the big failure point for any D.C. motor. Only time will tell if this product will outlast the standard version. All of the other components that make this unit work have to be durable and reliable.
Nice drill. I wanted a smaller form factor drill to use with my RC trucks. The light is a nice touch. Seems well made and I love how it feels in my hand. I've used it for various projects around the house and it performs well.
2nd Bosch screwdriver. Great tool. Very happy with it.
