Pretty cool idea, a pink cordless power drill, for women. I am pleasantly surprised that it works, (and looks) great.
I purchased this my sister. She looked it. Great quality and just what every gal needs. Her very own Pink Power Drill.
Works great!
This is a great impact driver, on a par with pneumatic drivers I've used; both 1/4" and 3/8" square drives are with the tool.
Great
awesome
So far, so good. Haven't had it for long, but it charged properly, has plenty of power, and seems to last.
Bosch Brute Tough Drill/Driver model: DDH181X-01 This a big and powerful drill. We were shopping for drills at our local big box hardware store (the blue one) and were disappointed in their selection of Bosch tools. The drills they had were pretty small and pretty basic. I saw this Bosch drill online and thought it might be similar; it is not. This Bosch drill is more comparable to the ones sold at our contractor supply company that supplies commercial lines. I stated all that to let you know the size and comparability because it can be hard to tell quality and size online. Online this looks to be the same as the $100 Bosch ½” drill but this is the Brute Tough line and this drill dwarfs the cheaper one. (I’ve inserted a picture for reference.) ½” all metal, keyless chuck (does not have a plastic chuck like cheaper drills) Built-in work light Settings for 1 - 25 torque set or you can lock it to drill (adjustable clutch) High/low speed settings (Gear shifter) Depth Gauge Rubberized Grip Auxiliary Handle Forward/Reversing Lever & Trigger Lock Variable Speed Trigger Switch Maximum capacities: Chuck Size: ½” Screw Sizes: #16 x 3” Mild Metal: ½” Hard Wood: 1-⅜” Soft Wood: 1-⅞” Masonry: ⅝” Includes: (2) 18v Li-Ion 4.0 Ah Batteries with Cool Pack Design and Battery Fuel Gauge (Flexible Power System - Compatible with all Bosch Lithium Ion batteries) Battery Charger Soft-sided Case The quality and construction of the drill is heavy duty. We are very pleased with the performance and power of the drill. It is built rugged with Durashield housing which is designed to withstand drops (although we have not tested that) and all metal gearbox to withstand rugged conditions.
Love this just the right amount of power. It really exceeded my expectations. The only small thing I wish the light had an on and off switch. Sometimes you just want to take a look before actually drilling or unscrewing ect. But that is something I can live with. Delivery was super fast. I will do business again with this seller. You will not be disappointed
I was going to use my husbands drill, but between the selection of drills, and batteries with chargers, both of unknown condition, I decided to buy my own. I liked this one because it came in a case with everything I need. I chose pink because I know it won't be 'borrowed' and go to hide somewhere in the shop. The price was also quite good. I got it for occasional use and am very happy with it.
I would give this a 5 but one of the latches on the case is crooked and does not seat properly. An easy fix if the manufacturer would supply a new latch. Changing my rating from 4 to 5 The manufacturer quickly sent me a whole new case. Customer service was speedy and very courteous. I used the drill to repair a chair. I like the torque control and built-in light. Good fit for a feminine hand.
Was teaching my wife how to use a drill as we were dong a remodel. Not only does it work well but she loves it so much that she is doing all the home improvements at our house now so she can use it. Holds a charge for weeks! Has everything you need. Highly recommended.
Outstanding product and super fast shipping
I drill the crap outta so much stuff now.
Wow oh wow!!! I love this and it is the perfect weight. I love that it has a leveler and light on it as well as the two batteries. This is so much better than I expected.
It is pink and it's an electric drill! Now my wife is happy and you know the saying...
I'm going to try the drill now, but the handle keeps falling off - so I can't carry the holder. Can I get a new container - looks like the holes for the handle inserts are too big, and now the metal things are falling off ..........I not going to use the drill, unless you want me to see if it works.
Used this drill several times and I really like it.
Have not used it yet, but has everything I need to get most jobs done around the house! I think I'm going to like this one....
I've been fairly happy with my porter cable drill and impact with their nicad bricks but after using this and it's brother impact for a few weeks I'm definitely sold. I wouldn't say there is any particular feature that would blow you away but a strong drill that is comfortable to use and light is really nice. It's been seeing light use around the house hanging pictures, done great driving long screws in the wall for hanging a tankless water heater, and then drilling enough pocket holes to make my daughter a doll bed. Note that it is still on the first charge at this point. Then yesterday my wife wanted to clean the grout in our shower that had gone a little long without a scrub. She chucked in a brush that I had run a bold through and went to town. After she was done she mentioned that she intended to go until the battery died but it just kept going. It was pretty well run down at this point but for one charge over several weeks I was impressed. It hasn't see much heavy use outside of my shop but first impressions it is build well and I have no concerns about dropping or banging it around. I like all the options for speed and torque, something that came in handy for driving big(but soft) brass screws into the wall to hang an oak ruler for measuring kids. At first the green speed/direction indicator arrows seemed gimmicky but admit it; we've all run a bit backwards before for a few seconds before we realized it. It's a nice simple addition. I like the drill and haven't been annoyed at it yet so I'd recommend it to anyone.
I picked up this product for simple jobs around my house. I have a large drill that I have used in the past that is a plug in drill (and is necessary for when you want to screw something into a hard surface, or make drill). The problem with the old drill was that the bits were difficult to change (with a key) and it was quite heavy as well. The other downside was that it was not a battery powered drill so I had to either be near a plug or haul out the extension cords as well to get the job done. This product basically solves all of those problems for me. It is smaller than my old drill so it will fit into tough places. It has the power to drill holes even in tough surfaces, and it is battery powered, so I don't have to worry about finding a plug or using the extension cords. The bits are easy to change (you can hand change them) and the drill has a good amount of power as well. For almost any job this will get it done, really tough jobs (drilling into concrete) you may want a stronger drill, but everything else around my house was easy with this product. Now that I have this new drill I don't think I will pull the old one out very often at all. The drill does come partially charged so you can take it right out of the box and use it. After use you simply plug the battery back in and it charges fairly quickly. The battery lasts a long time as well, I have not found that it has run out when I was using it yet. Overall because of the convenience, size, weight, and durability of this drill I really like it.
I am very happy with this cordless drill. I need a good drill for the occasional home repair or small project. Not like I'm working in construction or something so my needs are not that demanding. This drill gives me everything I want and more. My first use was removing damaged Philips head screw in a laptop. This is pretty fine work but the low torque gearbox settings with the fine trigger speed control got the job done very nicely. Better than I was expecting at handling this delicate job. The drill feels good in my hand. With the battery on it balances very well. The forward/reverse push though is located just right for me. I found the torque, gearbox speed setting and keyless chuck quite intuitive. The light at the bottom of the handle does a good job illuminating what I'm working on. The battery came about half charged and got to full charge with the included charger in less than an hour. Fast enough for me. I'm very pleased with this drill. As the occasional worker with power tools its important to me they be intuitive to use. This is the case here. Also as I'm on the older side I like that the manuals are downloadable as PDF documents and I can zoom them on my screen and search them. This drill has exceeded my expectations and offers me everything I want and more in a cordless drill for use around my home. That's why I'm giving it 5 stars.
This is a big upgrade from my old Black & Decker drill. My Black & Decker had an 18v battery that was 2-3 times bigger than this battery. The drill itself was also much bigger and bulkier. So, if you're upgrading from an older batter-powered drill, you'll appreciate the more compact size and light weight. This has an LED light that activates when the drill starts, which is very helpful when drilling under cupboards, etc. The battery has a 4-level indicator for the battery power (I've uploaded a picture to show). The battery life is great. It offers a lot of power and was able to last a little project that required multiple drilling, and it didn't even drop the battery level. The drill has variable speed based on how you press the drill trigger. You can also flip a switch to give it more power. Overall, great drill. Very handy.
Bought this for my daughter and she couldn't be happier. Her husband uses it too.
Bought for the wife. We flip houses and she wanted her own set of good but "girly" tools. Charger not heavy duty like something from Sears, but everything works fine. And yes, I have used it and it does work fine, I even liked the lighter weight, better while drilling overhead.
Abosolutely love this drill! feminine, yet powerful! and I get to support breast cancer research...all at once! Amazing! M. Happer
Love my drill
Used it just a minute ago! Love the it! Love the color! Bonus!
I love the weight and design of the drill (and the color insures no one is going to steal it). The problem is that the batteries don't seem to be taking a good charge. Glad it came with two.
Debated on buying the "high torque" version of this model, but when with this instead. For my needs, it's awesome. I use this pretty much for just automotive work; not a professional mechanic by a long shot, but just work on my car and friends. I swapped the shocks in my moms car recently, and this saved me I would guess an hour in the process, and it's FUN to use. I got this one for an absolute steal on Amazon warehouse - it was in used/like new condition, so I was hesitant, but it just looked like someone opened the box, and returned it immediately. With 2 batteries, a charger, nice case and the driver, $135 was just too good to pass up. Pros: I'm a Bosch convert. All their power tools that I now own just fit well in my hand, are well balanced, feel quality, the batteries last forever, and charge quick. In fact, I don't see me looking at any other brand, they're just that well designed (ze germans, no?). If you do the math, this puts out around 135lbs/ft of torque, which is almost double what my Bosch 12v impact driver puts out. It's not heavy, it's not huge, but puts out bolt snapping torque in a small package. Two batteries included are a huge plus, even at the new price this is a great deal. They charge... insanely quick. Maybe I hadn't drained it, but it seemed like 15 minutes until fully charged, which is nuts. LED is a nice touch. Progressive trigger is also somewhat a rarity in the bigger impact drivers; this has it which is nice - doesn't try to jump out of your hand. Also has the brake function, so when you let of the trigger, it just stops spinning immediately. Keeps nuts from flying out of sockets, which is a pain. Ergonomics, power, and battery life are the key features, and it's very well priced. Cons: LED could be brighter; no battery meter. Conclusion: If you don't work on tractors or things that require massive amounts of torque (i.e. above 130ft/lbs), I don't think there is a better 1/2 driver out there. I have a Dewalt, and now basically hate it (twice as heavy, worse battery, poor ergonomics/balance, same power). Can't say enough about Bosch tools, they are my new go-to brand when looking for anything new.
Just what I needed.
Received this today. Everything is in great condition except the shaft that holds the bits in the drill is slightly bent. But it still works and is lightweight and easy to use! Definitely don't have to ask the hubby do hang anything else for me! I got what I need to do any job I can imagine!
works excellent and like the fact that it has a light also
I remodel and sell houses and have several Bosch drivers that get much daily use. They all have performed exceptionally and the 4 amp hour batteries last longer / charge faster than the Milwaukee and Makita drivers used by some of my crew. This driver is the best of them all. It is powerful and the brushless motor is smooth. It has a very ergonomic feel which reduces hand fatigue when used for long periods. The guys who work for me are always looking for my driver. I highly recommend the # IDH182B for anyone who wants a serious impactor.
Love my drill!
Works ok
Love it! Works great
Professional version of the Bosch sold on so many big box stores. Metal chuck, metal gearbox, an animal with tons of torque. Great option saving money as bare tool assuming you have (as I do) several batteries ready to use.
Small and easy
This drill is really amazing. I spent a ton of time researching drills in this category and it came down to the Panasonic that gets rave reviews, the Makita and this Bosch. I decided on the Bosch based on the highest torque, 18v, quality reputation and concern about reports of mis-aligned Makita chucks. I'm not sure you could go totally wrong with any of them but I've found this drill to be very powerful, light for it's size and power and having that 'well-built' feeling to it. The battery pack is crazy light but they last a long time and charge in 15 min. I'm very pleased with this drill.
Bear in mind, my other cordless drill driver (a Black & Decker model) I've had for over fifteen years now. The only thing I've ever had to complain about with that one was when a battery started to die, or those times I lost a bit off the attached bit holder. But over that time, I knew battery technology--and handheld tool technology, in general--had improved. Still, I saw no pressing need to buy another drill. Then I saw this 1/2 inch drill. Not only would it take a bit bigger chuck than my 3/8 model, it had higher voltage and a longer-life battery. I couldn't resist. And so far, I'm glad I didn't. This SKIL drill feels great in my hand. It is more balanced and considerably lighter than my 3/8 drill. It is about 1/3 shorter from back to front, and so can squeeze into tighter spots. (A tad over 7 ", without a bit). Plus, it feels durable. Ready to go the distance. It has a build in forward-facing light to help illuminate the work--a feature my fifteen-years-older eyes appreciate. It also has lit direction indicators so I know which way the thing is going. It is easy to operate. The controls are intuitive and easy to read. Out of the box, it took maybe 15 minutes to fully charge the battery, then it was ready to go. I love that it can hook on my belt, or stand safely on the battery. If you're looking for a heavier duty home cordless drill, this is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it.
One of the things that I like about Amazon is the different reviews. One person may do a detailed review, while another person may review the item from a totally different perspective. I have one of those reviews. I own 5 cordless drills from four different manufacturers. Each of them serves a different purpose. So I'm not reviewing this from a "Does it do EVERYTHING I need a cordless drill to do" point of view. My perspective is "Does this drill offer me anything unique or useful about it for my collection." I realize that not everyone needs, wants or can afford to have a half-dozen drills laying around. But there are a lot of tool fanatics who do own lots of different versions of the same tool. And one last note, I do NOT own the 12v version of this drill that so many people have referred to in their reviews, so I won't be comparing to it. I got this because I am very much a believer in MORE VOLTAGE = BETTER DRILL (with some exceptions, particularly if you need a smaller sized drill, then you will want a lower voltage drill.) 20V is a pretty solid drill - there are more powerful drills, but 20V will get most projects done. Also, Skil has several other tools that use this same battery, so if you have some of them (I do) then you can share batteries and chargers and it gives you a very good backup system for WHEN, NOT IF, WHEN one of your batteries goes bad. Because as awesome as Li battery technology is, it hasn't matured to be bulletproof yet. No matter what brand I use, or what size, quality, price, whatever, eventually I lose a lithium battery to premature death syndrome. So if I have several items that use the same battery, I still have useful tools. And sadly, almost always when a battery dies, it cost ALMOST AS MUCH to replace the battery as it does to replace the whole tool. I don't know why. So... I highly recommend getting more than one item in the 20V SKIL series if you get this or any other Lithium battery powered tool. Some things that I like are the light that stays on for quite a bit when you are trying to line up a screw. I feel like this is a well made, very solid feeling drill that has a good solid chuck and tightens easily. I saw where someone said they did not have a good chuck, and that may be a one-off or bad QC situation because mine feels very good. I also see that they are addressing the Lithium battery situation with an attempt to COOL the batteries somehow, I don't know if that will extend the life of the battery, but if so, that would be a huge improvement. I didn't look in-depth at the 12v version of this drill that everyone is talking about, but interestingly, it cost $10 MORE than this 20v version, so it must have some pretty nice features going for it to have less voltage and a higher price. I would say that if those features aren't a big deal to you, being able to get this 20v drill at a lower price than the 12v drill is also a plus because the 20v drill is likely going to have more torque and power. Honestly, at this price point, this is a great drill. I have paid WELL OVER twice this price for Lithium battery powered drills and this is a bargain.
Really nice, my daughter really will get a lot of use out of this.
Love my new drill!
Easy-to-use, very light, not heavy like other drills can be. Glad i bought this product
After going through multiple Bosch impact drivers over the last 7 years, I was skeptical to buy this one. I already have sever batteries, and I'm a seriously loyal Bosch fan. So far I love it. Multiple drive speeds and the ability to turn off the work light. It will take the double sided driver bits and a .5" drive socket.
My old impact driver that I'd had for five years gave up the ghost while doing a deck demo that had thousands of rusty embedded screws. (By the way, a week after I bought the first one I dropped it off a roof which tumbled down to a deck and then bounced another 12 feet to the ground--no damage.) I had read the specs and other reviews on this driver and thought it would be a good tool. It's a great tool. The three different power level option is so useful. I find myself using this feature a great deal especially when you need to be delicate. The tool is lighter and the grip is very comfortable. I use 4 amp hour batteries so I get complacent to charge them because they last so long. The driver chuck is easier to use than the old version and the 1/2 inch chuck is perfect. But finally, the lights, OMG, when your 56 years old and your rods and cones are in short supply the three LEDs are a godsend. Bosch must have had late middle age designers working on this tool.
I have installed a couple thousand #10 self-drilling/tapping screws in my building. No issues. It was great to be able to leave the 1/4" hex driver in place and install a deep 3/4" socket right on top of it to tighten structural bolted joints. I am using a pair of 2.0 amp hr batteries with my Bosch drilll. They charge faster than I can discharge them.
Great hammer drill that is compact and fits all the Bosch 18V batteries. I've used it to frame some 2x4's and it works great.
Great size lots of power love the hex plus 1/2” square drive in one
